Phosphate carrier

Description

The phosphate carrier (PiC) is a proton/phosphate symporter which transports negatively charged inorganic phosphate across the inner mt-membrane. The transport can be described either as symport of H+ with Pi, or antiport of hydroxide anion against Pi. The phosphate carrier is a component of the phosphorylation system.
