Extrinsic fluorophores

Description

Extrinsic fluorophores are molecules labelled with a fluorescent dye (as opposed to intrinsic fluorescence or autofluorescence of molecules which does not require such labelling). They are available for a wide range of parameters including ROS (H2O2, Amplex red) (HOO-, MitoSOX) , mitochondrial membrane potential (Safranin, JC1, TMRM, Rhodamin 123), Ca2+ (Fura2, Indo 1, Calcium Green) , pH (Fluorescein, HPTS, SNAFL-1), Mg2+ (Magnesium orange) and redox state (roGFP).
