MitoEAGLE Short-Term Scientific Mission

Work Plan summary
As soon as I started working on O2k many questions arose: how to perform a precise weighing of the tissue; what shredding protocol should I use; how to assess tissue damage made by shredding; why some chemical increases ROS in one case, while decreases in another; and many others. Soon I realized that it requires a lot of precision, patience and knowledge to obtain a reliable measurement of the rate of oxygen consumption and ROS production in a tissue. This is why I am taking part in the Oroboros “Workshop on High-Resolution FluoRespirometry” organized by Oroboros Instruments in Schroecken from 17-22nd of June, 2019. I believe this will be a great opportunity to improve my knowledge on this topic, to get insight into the newest techniques and methods used in these experiments and to exchange my results with other scientists working on the same topic as I do. As a young researcher, I would hopefully establish new partnerships and gain enough knowledge to actively participate in MitoEAGLE community in the future. By doing so, I hope I will be able to give my contribution to the ultimate MitoEAGLE goal: to improve our knowledge on mitochondrial function in health and disease related to Evolution, Age, Gender, Lifestyle and Environment.
